Default Question for you left handed folks

My dad gave me a standard right handed holster and I have been using it to hold my gun while I wait for my left handed MTAC to arrive. I was curious of anyone's thoughts of using a right hand IWB holster at 7:00 with a palm out draw versus a left handed standard draw. Any pros or cons with either?

haven't tried it but don't forget to flip your wrist. just seems like it could be problematic. just try it and practice it if you do it that way so if you need to draw in a situation you don't grab gun backwards.

Go to G Willie's.
They have 2 or 3 crates of Left hand holsters marked down on the floor by the holster wall almost at the front wall.

Certainly not ideal.

My recommendation has to be that you wear it as intended and spend the time between now and when your holster arrives practicing with the weak hand.

You need to be proficient with both hands. As close to equally proficient as you are reasonably capable of achieving.

Thanks! I need to go check them out. I haven't been there in YEARS! Do you know if they are open on Saturday? I work in T'ville and hardly ever get back into town before 7:00.

That makes sense. As I think of "My gun fight" scenario in my car, it makes the most logical sense to keep a gun between the seats along with my concealed. Having a weapon on each side would maximize defense. If someone moved to attack through the drivers window I would almost certainly be using my left hand/arm for immediate defense (grabbing / deflecting a weapon, etc.)

@ArcWelder, BTW, my CCW finally arrived Friday (yay!). It took three weeks. I guess it's not so bad, The lady up there said a bunch of people applied that week.

In retrospect, it would appear to be an added motion where it isn't needed, thanks!

I went out Tuesday this week and squoze off 100 rds. I was suprised how easy it was to alternate, just flip the grip for the other hand. I even kept my shots on the paper!

My MTAC arrived Wednesday and I almost have it form fitted. That's a GREAT holster. It was smaller than I pictured it in my head but it works perfectly.
One note though, you will really need an under shirt with a RTF2. Otherwise it's like having a cheese grater stuffed into your pants.

That is GREAT to hear! Sounds like you may be amphashooteris. Once you feel really comfortable with that start on malfunction clearing drills and magazine changes with the off hand.

. . that last part . . magazine changes . . may just change your thinking as to where you carry your spare magazines, so for the sake of economy you may want to play with that skill some before you spend too much on magazine carriers. . . if you haven't already.

funny i'm a lefty and my name is adam also.

any way. i would recommend using a lefty holster if your left handed. I mean why stack the odds against yourself. it's hard to even find a good pistol with ambi controls, at least you can get almost any holster in lefty.

GO get a cheap uncle mike's until your MTAC arrives!

Good luck!
