What I don't get is the fact that someone has a small video camera.
I've never seen any cops video taping them self in a home,it's always
crime scene investigators or cops the t.v. show who video. Can anyone
here ever remember seeing a beat cop with a video camera in his hand?
Much less going in to someone house. It's probably just a well fabricated hoax.

Maybe I hold too much back in these posts!

When I typed that it was real, it was because I called the agency, spoke to one of their sergeants, and he confirmed the video was real. I told him I wasn't expecting any information that wasn't public record and asked him if the agency was preparing a statement. He said he did not know (not surprising, those decisions are made at high levels), but referred me to their website where they post their press releases.

He was not able to confirm or deny anything beyond the video being authentic
(again, not surprising considering I was calling out of the blue).

It will be interesting to see what happens!

When I started in police work, my agency didn't have portable radios. The times they have changed!

As I noted earlier, some departments are going to personal audio (and in some cases video) recorders in order to protect themselves from complaints. Many complaints lodged against cops involve what was said, plus regardless of this, having this works well for court- this should of course go both ways. If the cops screwed up, it should be used to convict them.

Personal video recorder, designed by cops for cops:

In most cases the video and audio help in the defense of the officer from complaints of abuse and lying. In a few, like this one, it clearly shows misconduct.
