Question Experiance with LEVERevolution Ammunition

I shot my 1st hog last week, he was about 150 ld and this was the 1st animal I've taken with LEVERevolution. I shot him at 20 yds with a 35 Remington. The hog was on a noel, so the shot was nearly even. The round went through the front shoulder, breaking the bone, pierced the heart and out the stomach.

The exit wound was near the same size as the entry wound. the core-locks I normally use expand like crazy in a deer.

I was woundering if others had the same experience or if this was a fluke?

I shot a deer with a 30-30 using that LEVERevolution ammo, it went clean through the chest. I was expecting a large exit wound also but it wasn't much bigger than a quarter. Had some good knockdown power for a 30-30, the deer hit the ground hard and only made it about 20 feet when he eventually got up.

This is interesting to me, having seen the advertisements for this round, promoted as superior to "normal" HP due to its plastic "nosecone"....

Supposedly, regular hollow points "fill up" with fibers passing thru layers of multiple hoodies or whatever the perps were wearing, and did not expand properly. This red plastic tip would penetrate yet then allow full expansion.

Quite interesting to hear of these two cases of shooting thru a game animal w/no expansion.

I did a cursory test last month with dry phone books and .45 Long Colt rounds thru a 4" barrel Judge, at 10 yards.

Both the hollow points stopped just short of penetrating two full-size local phone books stacked, the solid point just did make it thru both.

Left to right, CCI Blazer 200 gr, Hornady LEVERevolution 225 gr, Mountaineer 225 gr.

Thanks for the feedback. The phone book test was interesting. It seems like Horndy's expanded better then the hollow points in a phone-book.
